Summertime in the Peak District 🌞

The newly reopened Alec and Thora trail is a revamp of the old Pillar of Salt track. Adding much more flow and more features to this classic trail in Deepcar, Wharncliffe woods. We have started to build quite the collection of videos from trails within Wharncliffe. You can see all the other ones here this is just a sample of the trails.

It’s just before Christmas and the Peak District is covered in a layer of snow. After their uplift gets cancelled due to the weather. The team decided to head out on the bikes on a snowy ride. Heading towards Hope Cross and Edale.
As you can imagine the conditions of snow and ice made it interesting. With the Ebikes making it possible.

Stanage Plantation is a Gritstone flagstone-based track that drops down through Stanage edge. We decided to see if it was possible to ride up the route before dropping back down. It was very wet in the middle section of the route with water flowing over the Gritstone flagstones that make up this historical bridleway. Thanks to Eddie and Billy for their help with this one.

This trail is located next to Rake and Bake which we previously did a video on. Starting again at the Deepcar end of the woods. All of the trails in the area of the woods are only short, but so is the climb back to the top.

Up next Peaty’s in Wharncliffe woods, one of the oldest trails in the woods. Rocky with a mixture of tight turns and rock gardens. Splitting off the original line onto a new link section onto the lower section of Truffle Shuffle.
We have featured a bunch of different trails in Wharncliffe there really is something for everyone.
Mam Tor is the second-highest hill in the Peak District and the bridleway goes around the hilltop and leads onto a fast, rutted trail down the ridge to Hollins Cross.
Where we then drop down into Edale below Back Tor. Starting from the round stone pillar and heads down the right fork on the Edale side, between two stone posts. The first 100m of the track is on top of an old collapsed wall which lots of embedded, angular, polished stones. It curves right around the hill, flattens out and turns into singletrack with small gulleys before a gate.

Piper House Gate is a similarly rocky descent that forks off the same bridleway and makes for a great second way down. With some different trail features to Devils. Riding this one again with Billy from Cafe Adventure
These trails are maintained and looked after by Ride Sheffield, which is a large reason why they make for a good option in the winter months. Combined with Houndkirk and Burbage to make into a good wet weather riding option.
Blacka Moor is a Nature reserve on the west side of Sheffield, sitting on the boundary of the Peak District.
Devils Elbow is one of a number of short technical descent that cross the reserve. They are very similar to much of the other Peak District trails in that they are rocky. They can be ridden as part of a mini loop or by joining into a longer ride taking in Lady Cannings, Houndkirk and Big Moor. Or as an extension to our Lady Cannings explorer route

60 Seconds of Muddy Wharncliffe Trails, post Christmas dinner we headed out into the woods on a very misty dank afternoon.
Wharncliffe has become a regular riding spot for us over the winter. We have quite a few videos from there online now. Its technical trails provide a great challenge during the winter months. Perfect for either a modern trail bike as fireroads for climbs or push up.
Trail forks have a good number of trails in the woods on it. But best with a local rider.
