Trail Preview | 4 Favorites – Wharncliffe Woods
Wharncliffe Woods is often seen as a progressive riding location. But as many of the trails have been there 20+ years and the hillside is steep rocky and rooty. If you pick the right trail it’s a good option for the winter. So here are a couple of our favourite trails this time of year. And as they can be easily ridden on a modern trail bike and lapped it makes for a good place to ride for a couple of hours.
The first trail rode “Shuffle Truffle” I hadn’t ridden since it was first built in 2011. The second is one that I haven’t ridden before. The last two trails are both in the Wharncover area are a shorter area of the hillside.
We have previously featured a number of other trails in these woods see Dogs Bollocks and Trek Rail

Trail Preview | Rake & Bake Wharncliffe Woods
This one is a new trail to me, located in Wharncliffe Woods. Which has been featured before in previous videos. See Dogs Bollox and Trek Rail.
A short singletrack descent which is relatively steep and requires good control. Perfect for linking into a much longer Wharncliffe trail ride. The woods are full of a variety of trails that can be easily looped using fireroads for climbs.
Expect a variety of locations and guest riders. Hopefully helping to expand your knowledge and showcasing some of the best of the local Peak District and Sheffield riding scene.

Trail Preview | Bradwell Edge
Descending down from above Bradwell accessed via Brough lane. Bradwell Edge is great singletrack decent that is steep and narrow and often overlooked. It rides much better during the dryer summer months.
Expect a variety of locations and guest riders. Hopefully helping to expand your knowledge and showcasing some of the best of the local Peak District and Sheffield riding scene.

Trail Preview | Cave Dale – Castleton
Starting at 422m about 2km south-west of Castleton at a crossroads on the Limestone Way. With a flatter top section. The track descends into Cave Dale and exits between close rocks into the back of Castleton. Tricky to get down and keep the flow.
Originally a cave before the roof fell in, like most caves it was created by flowing water so it’s no surprise to find a stream running down the track in Cave Dale virtually all year round. This video and those to come will be focusing on trails within the local riding scene.
Expect a variety of locations and guest riders. Hopefully helping to expand your knowledge and showcasing some of the best of the local Peak District and Sheffield riding scene.

eMTB Lite – An Update not to be missed.
What is eMTB Lite?
Its is a software update that comes with all 2021 Trek E mountain bikes equipped with a Gen 4 Bosch motors. It replaces the standard Tour mode with a dynamic variable-assist mode simular to EMTB. But at a lower torque range.
In the same way that any 2020 Trek powered CX Gen 4 motor could be updated to the greater 85nm, eMTB lite can also be retrofitted via a software update. It is something that has been elusively developed between Trek and Bosch and is only available on Trek bikes.
We have updated our Ebike hire fleet to have it and think it offers something very useful. Especially to those who ride ebikes often and prefer to contribute more power and find eco mode too lower an assistance level. With EMTB taking too much power for longer rides.
When riding in eMTB lite the motor torque matches the required amount for the trail ahead, giving you that extra bit of assistance if required compared to standard tour mode.
Want to learn more than give us a call on 01433 659345 or get in touch to get your bike booked in to have the update installed and feel it for yourself.

Trail Preview | The Dogs Bollocks – Wharncliffe Woods
Wharncliffe Woods located just north of Sheffield has been a popular local riding spot for XC, Trail and Downhill riding for as long as Mountain bikes have existed.
Famously the training ground of World Champion downhill rider Steve Peat. The trail featured gives an example of the trails that can be found there. Steep, often rocky.
The video and those to come will be focusing on trails within the local riding scene. Expect a variety of locations and guest riders. Hopefully helping to expand your knowledge and showcasing some of the best of the local Peak District and Sheffield riding scene.

2021 Trek Rail 9 – First Ride
We have had the new Rail 9 in our hire/demo fleet now for a couple of months. Which has given us time to put it through its paces.
This bike further raises the bar on what an Ebike can achieve. Climbing like a mountain goat and descending like a downhill bike. Our testing showed that the Rail was only a couple of seconds slower than a DH bike. Impressive considering you can get back to the top in double-quick time.
Checking out some of our favourite trails in Wharncliffe woods. You can demo and hire this bike to explore the trails of the Peak District and beyond.
