The Beginning: A Passion Becomes a Business

Our journey began in 2010 as a family-run business with one goal: to share the joy of exploring the Peak District on two wheels. Our owner, James, a local rider with over 25 years of experience, envisioned a place that would be more than just a bike shop, a hub for cyclists of all levels, offering expert local knowledge and friendly advice.  Located in a building that used to be a tropical fish shop. After a couple of months of building work, we were ready to open.

More Than Just a Shop

From our base at the Hope Valley Centre in Bamford, we have become a cornerstone of the local cycling community. Our dedicated team ensures that every customer—whether local or visiting—has the best experience possible. It’s not just about great bikes; it’s about sharing routes, delivering excellent service, and being your gateway to unforgettable adventures in the Peak District. We are proud to have received the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award every year. Also to be 5-star rated on Google and TripAdvisor 

Founding Member of Peak District MTB

Our commitment goes beyond the shop. James is a founding member of Peak District MTB, dedicated to protecting and improving mountain bike access. He leads volunteer groups and collaborates with landowners to ensure our beloved trails are sustainable.

The Garage Today: 15 Years Old

Bike Garage has grown stronger over the years, built on genuine experience. Our recommended routes, expert workshop advice, and e-bike suggestions stem from our sincere love for the riding and the national park. 

Most recently, we have become a Trash Free Trails Community Hub, which we are very excited to get involved in to support environmental stewardship and help protect our trails. So watch this space?
